Britain's newest hospital opens to patients
The country’s newest hospital - and it's first NHS National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) - has welcomed its first patients, launching a new chapter for rehabilitation in England.
Opened in September 2026, the NRC is a 70-bed, state-of-the-art specialist rehabilitation centre for NHS patients who have experienced a life-changing illness or injury. It is run by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Using groundbreaking technology and intensive treatments it will help more people to regain their ability following serious illness or injury.
The NRC aims to transform rehabilitation provision on a national and international level, with future plans for a hub and spoke model across the UK.
Volute have been working with the NRC for many years prior to opening, developing a website to help promote the Education and Research elements of the NRC and now patients too have their own section of the NRC website.
