The National Rehabilitation Centre, is a brand new £105 million 70 bed state-of-the-art specialist facility run by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, opening in 2026.

The facility will help NHS patients who have experienced a life-changing illness or injury receive earlier access to rehabilitation.

Several years before the hospital’s completion, we built their website with flexibility which has allowed the NRC to recruit staff and create an academic network in advance of the first patient intake.

Challenge

In advance of Government confirming capital funding for the new NRC facility, NUH needed to focus on other elements in their offer - demonstrating the need and setting up a triple focus for the website:

  • The proposed facilities and benefits to patients
  • Setting up a research network
  • Creating improved education and training opportunities in the field of rehabilitation
  • NRC Icons
  • Rehab Slide
  • Research Slide
  • NRC Laptop
  • Nrc Tablet
  • Education Slide

Development

We worked with NUH to develop a website designed to adapt over time, allowing for significant shifts in emphasis as priorities evolved. We also recognised that different audiences required distinct information and messaging.

The website is structured into three main sections, each with its own colour scheme and iconography, enabling visitors to easily orientate themselves within their chosen area of the site.

The Results

The website now includes extensive content for Research & Innovation and Education & Training.

As the facility prepares to open to patients, the website will be expanded to accommodate new content for patients and their relatives.
