Major award marks Volute’s contribution to cancer nursing care
A new learning management system we developed for the East Midlands Cancer Alliance - Aspirant Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Development Programme - has won the 2024 East Midlands Chamber of Commerce award for ‘Excellence in Collaboration’, with the awards ceremony being held in Nottingham.
Most people have their lives touched by cancer at some point, whether the diagnosis relates to themselves, family or friends. There are more than 385,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year – that is more than 1,000 every day.
Yet cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 50 years in the UK. Prevention and early diagnosis are key to tackling the disease.
And it is vital that those involved in cancer care have the best access to learning and training resources - better skilled staff are able to deliver higher quality care.
For these reasons, our team at Volute was humbled and delighted to be asked to help develop a new digital platform to aid the learning opportunities of cancer nurses across the East Midlands.
We work with many healthcare organisations, locally, regionally and nationally, and all of this has the potential to help change people’s lives, for staff and patients. This is reward in itself but it has been particularly pleasing to see a project with the East Midlands Cancer Alliance (EMCA) recognised by others.
A new learning management system we developed for EMCA’s Aspirant Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Development Programme has won the 2024 East Midlands Chamber of Commerce award for ‘Excellence in Collaboration’, with the awards ceremony being held in Nottingham earlier this month. It was a joy to be joined on stage to receive the honour by members of the EMCA team.
Whereas previously, information and resources were spread around various systems and platforms, the Volute learning management system brings all this training information into one safe, secure and easy-to-use learning space. The free, high quality, interactive learning resources can be accessed conveniently at a time and location to suit the individual, via PC or mobile device.
In the year since its launch in October 2023, the learning management system has received more than 2,400 visitors, making more than 16,000 site views. The programme has received accreditation from the Continued Professional Development Certification Service. It has exceeded all targets and is helping provide a more positive future for cancer nursing care in the East Midlands.
