The problem

The Institute of Mental Health, a partnership between the University of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire NHS Healthcare Trust, commissioned us to set up a website in response to requests from clinical colleagues who wanted more accessible online information on mental health topics, particularly with regard to running mental health research programmes.

Our solution

The site is an open-access solution aimed at bringing together best practice from far and wide. It is designed to work on tablets and mobile phones as well as older desktop computers. It has been optimised for video streaming to allow lectures, talks, interviews etc to be shown on the site. In addition there is a section to incorporate an innovative 'how to get involved with research' tool.

We developed the site in a period of 8 weeks for the visit of Professor Dame Sally Davies, the Government's Chief Medical Officer, who unveiled our website, seen here with Tim Ryan of Volute and Dr John Milton.

Dr Milton said: "We intended this new website to be a one-stop shop for busy clinicians who don't have the time to search through the internet for the latest in evidence-based practice. This site quickly links to authoritative sources as well as encouraging site visitors to join in the conversation with the Institute about spreading good ideas, encouraging innovation and adopting best practice."
